Here's a safe place to vent about your in-law pain. I'm choosing topics based on horror stories I've heard and experienced, but feel free to suggest more.
We all for the most part love our in-laws. We just don't always *like* them. So remember: no guilt!
Topic #1: Do your in-laws ever call you by the wrong name? Discuss.

So obviously mine does. My MIL calls me by DH's high school girlfriend's name sometimes. HIGH SCHOOL. Like, 20 years ago. She looooved her AND (this is bad) she wanted to make sure everyone knew how OK she was with their inter-racial relationship. She still "slips up" and calls me her name sometimes, and then goes on to tell me how beautiful she was. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThis is a stickler with my husband. We are even in counseling about it. She has called me the wrong name - the ex's name, a random name - so many times, despite us being together for 5 years and me telling her that it hurts my feelings. OK, we are not in counseling about that but about the fact that DH thinks I am "blowing it out of proportion" and won't say a word about it to her. MAYBE if she were a forgetful person, or if she did it to ANYONE else, but it is clearly a passive-aggressive way to disrespect me, and I am SO over it.
